Fairwell to Paul Newman from a Paso Robles Fan
October 4th, 2008 Posted in UncategorizedI would just like to take the time to say how much I will miss Paul Newman. I had heard that he might have lung cancer, but didn’t pay much attention to that. You know how all of the tabloids are always concocting events that aren’t true. But, this time, it was the truth…
Paul Newman deserves a lot of respect not only for his acting career, his good looks and donations to charity, but he was a man’s man and a woman’s man. He was great looking, had beautiful blue eyes and was married to the same beautiful and talented woman for over 50 years, Joanne Woodward.
In their 50 years of marriage, I don’t know if he strayed, but if he did, he had the good sense to be discreet about it, and he always treated Joanne with the utmost respect in public and in print. It was obvious to me that he loved her very much…
The first movie I remember seeing Paul Newman in was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I was 16 at the time, and all I thought about was horses. I lived vicariously through all of the westerns then, and it certainly didn’t hurt that the stars were Paul Newman & Robert Redford. What a couple of good-looking cowboys!
Anyway, my condolences to Joanne and his family… Paul Newman will be sorely missed, but he will never be forgotten for the kind man that he was, his quiet philanthropy for children in need and others, his fabulous acting career and his joy of life. He was definitely “one of the good guys!”
God bless him and his family…
