4th of July at Meridian Winery in Paso Robles CA
July 6th, 2008 Posted in Good Times & EventsOh, what a glorious weekend it was… Jane, one of my best friends from my old days in the San Francisco Bay Area came to visit with the new love of her life, John. Jane lost her husband, Claude, to cancer a couple of years ago, so you can only imagine how delighted we all were to see her happy once again.
Our other friends, Gary & Brigitte, moved to Paso Robles from Walnut Creek, California about 5 years ago, and they now live on 10 acres near us where they have achieved their dream of owning a vineyard and producing Cabernet Wine. They also had mutual friends visiting this weekend from the Bay Area: Wolfgang, Christa & Frank.
On the 4th of July, the nine of us went to the Meridian Winery to watch fireworks. We have lived in Paso Robles 10 years, and surprisingly, we had never gone to this yearly event that benefits the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County.
A fun time was had by all. Live music was provided by GrÜvthing (they were great!), picnic dinner by Cahoots Catering, ice cream by Doc Burnstein’s, wine and fireworks courtesy of Meridian and fabulous friends to enjoy it with. What’s not to like?
There was a warm and gentle breeze, lots of people dancing and then a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by the live music. I would highly recommend this event if you ever happen to be in Paso Robles on the 4th of July… You know where I’ll be on the 4th next year…
Our weekend festivities ended with a scrumptious barbecue at Gary & Brigitte’s home last night accompanied by their Cabernet, various local Chardonnays and their homemade Port.
Life is good:)
